Matte Lips

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Over the past few weeks I have fallen in love with the new to the high street, liquid lipstick.

The two that I have currently tried are the Sleek Matte Me and MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer

Both of the products can be bought in Superdrug and Sleek have newly been released on Boots website, not seen a stand in a shop yet for it.

I have 3 shades of the Matte me they are in

Fandango Purple (bright fuschia purple)
Brink Pink (neon pink)
Party Pink (coral pink)
The MUA velvet lip lacquer's I have 4 shades,
Reckless (true red)
Atomic (tomato/orangey red)
Kooky (dark purple)
Funk (deep pink)

So these lip sticks are meant to be similar to the Lime Crime Velvetines and Hourglass liquid lipsticks, both of which I need to purchase. I love matte lipsticks and these are the best I have found. The Matte Me ones last longer than the MUA ones. I will put a proper review of both of them in a few days (hopefully).

These are defo worth the £3 (MUA) and £4.99 (sleek). I do plan on getting the other colours which is 1 more from MUA and 3 more from Sleek.

I do wish there were more nude colours as it would make more variations of it.

5 January Favourites

Hey Guys and Dolls,

This is just a quick post on some of the products I have been loving this month.

Soap and Glory Eyeliners
I managed to pick up a set of the eyeliner sets that boots where doing for Christmas.
The set has a black, brown, purple, green and blue liners (there will be a post up soon about them :)) These are the most creamy eyeliners I have EVER tested that are on the high street. I know in the permanent line you can get the black and brown liners.

Concrete Minerals eyeshadow in X's and O's
This was a gift I got for Christmas off of my friend Lauren and I absolutely love this colour. Its a magenta purple with silver sparkle, that looks amazing against my blue eyes.

Maybelline The Volum' Express Colossal Smokey Mascara
I love this mascara. It gives me prefect lashes every time. Since the last mascara that I loved was £18 i decided to give this one a go, since I got it in my December Glossybox. It was really good and I'm highly impressed with it.

Sleek Matte Me in Fandango Purple
I love wearing matte lips everyday and this is just the most perfect fuchsia purple to wear with a thin black eyeliner look. I do have an in depth post coming soon on them.

Real Techniques Expert face brush
I bought this in a blog sale, as I was dubious on how good these actually were. I have bought a few cheaper alternatives before I seen it on the blog sale for £5. So I snapped it up and I'm definitely in love with it.

What have you dolls been loving this month?

The Phlegm Edinburgh's Rockabily Gods

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Just a quick post on a band, I recently seen do a gig.

The Phlegm, a Edinburgh based rockabily/psychobily band. I have had the pleasure of seeing these 3 laddies play around 8 times in the last 10 months.
They are regulars at Henry's Cellar Bar in Edinburgh, they have done guest slots in supporting bands like jake and the jellyfish (also a band you guys need to check out) and another rockabily band called the Voodoo Kings.

They have been a band for many years and consist of Joe McGuigan (vocals/guitar), Grant McGuigan (bass/double bass/backing vocals) and Iain Robertson(drums).
During the set they played on the 29th January, they covered Gary Numan 'Cars'

They also done original songs written by both Joe and Grant. This is a newly written song, by Grant McGuigan, Jet Board.

These young guys have done extremely well in the past 10 months that  I have been part of the crowd that they pull. I have went to the gigs with my girls and they have always had great things to say about the show afterwards. I love them as they are so unique in their style for such a young band. They have accomplished so much in such a short space of time and its great seeing them going from strength to strength. Their future is most definitely bright and I'm looking forward to seeing them grow more.

Here is a few little recordings of my favourite songs they do. Ubangi Stomp.

Boys having babies

Check them out on facebooktwitter and their own band page. Make sure you all like and follow them.

Till next time

High street VS High End #1

Hey Girls,

Hope you all had a great weekend. I have a new series starting on this blog, called high street vs high end. Its basically just going to be dupes of high end products.

For this one, I have MUA's dupe of an Urban Decay Palette.
So in the UD corner, we have the Smoked Palette and in the MUA corner we have the Smokin Palette.

These are two very similar in colours palettes. The first noticeable difference is the packaging. The MUA is in the normal black plastic packaging, where as  UD uses a gorgeous black zip closing packaging that has a massive mirror attached.
Also the prices are very, very different. The UD smoked is priced at £35, where as MUA is priced at very purse friendly £6.

What is included in the Palette?
Both palettes have 10 eye-shadows and a black eye pencil.
The UD one came with a sample sized eye primer and a booklet on different eye looks you can make with the shadows.

Pigment, texture, blendability
Some swatches so you can see the colour difference.
Both palettes have pretty similar colours in them. The colours all have names, they both have a mixture of mattes and shimmer. They have matte cream, nude and black. The shimmers range from beautiful jewel tones the UD ones are more black toned colours. They also have some bronze colours and silver/greys.
UD shadows are buttery soft and blend seamlessly. The MUA ones are a bit more chalky on some of the shadows, but they are soft and blend lovely too. Although they are not pigmented as the UD ones.

Round up
MUA have made a very good dupe of Smoked, although some of the colours are a little off, but lovely all the same. The eye liner that came with the palette is the best I have seen on the high street in a long time. It is creamy and pigmented, although it came without a lid.. downfall there for that. The palette is great for the price and would be a great start to smoky eyes for learners or beginners. All you need is in the palette apart from mascara.

The UD palette is amazing, I really can not fault it. The shadows are amazing and the smooth and silky soft. I love it.

I will post some pictures later.

Soap and Glory Christmas Gift Sets

Hey Girlies,

This post has been long overdue, but alas I've been able to finally sit down and get back to the normal grind of things. Which of course means blogging and being on all sorts of social media again. Hooray for you girls.

For Christmas, I was absolutely spoiled by friends and family. I some of the soap and glory gift sets and make up sets.

Firstly of all I bought myself the massive gift set that Boots had on the special offers of the week, that they have on the run up to Christmas. The normal price of it was £60 and it was down to £27 the week before Christmas, this is normally the set that everyone goes mad over. So I thought I would pick myself one up and see what they are all about this year. I have gotten one of these every year for about 4/5 years.
This year the products came in a lovely bag that was all pink and silver with a black bow handle. The products are all full sized. They range from body lotions and shower gel to some make up bits like mascara and a lip plumping lip gloss. This box for £27 is well worth the money as you get 9 products and it works out at about £3 per product.

Another gift box I got for Christmas was the Bright and Bubbly box. Which is packaged in a lovely red and pink box. Inside the box was a loofah and some miniatures. The products include a mini clean on me, body butter, scrub of your life and a mini hand food, hand cream.

The Final set I got was the box full of face products. Which Iam most definately loving using these. Its the only box I have started using products from. it has full sized products in it, they are face wipes (amazing), an eye cream (not used it enough to see much difference), a lip balm (its nice and smooths and softens the lips) and finally a BB cream (not tried it enough to have a fair opinion on it).

I will hopefully do some reviews on some of the really good products and maybe some of the not so good ones. I will hopefully get another little post up about the make up products I got from soap and glory.

Hope you all have a lovely day, where ever you are.

Bye girls.

2014!!! Wish List

Happy New Year Bloggers!!

I for one can not believe how quick 2013 went. But bring on 2014.. I'm definitely ready for you.

I'm going to take some inspiration, from a fellow blogger Jade, who also happens to be one of my close friends. She blogged about some things that she wishes to achieve in 2014.

Spend More Time With My Beautiful Girls.
For the biggest amount of time of last year, I spent working or spending a lot of time with my other half (not that it was a bad thing) But this year I definitely want to make a lot of amazing memories with my girls. Especially since one of the girls are going to be staying in Germany for the last few months of the year... Sob. Girls holiday somewhere?

Take Better Care Of Myself
I have become a shell of myself these past few months, not being very sociable or generally happy with myself. I've felt slightly lost and vulnerable, but all this will change. I already have changed my attitude towards things and I'm hopefully going to continue that. I also aim to lose a few stone, for myself though, not because of social media or someone else. I want to lighter and have more energy to spend more time with my nephew.

Tourist
I plan on getting a job hopefully before January ends, so I can save up and hopefully visit a few places that I've always wanted to go. I would love to go to Paris, Italy, Amsterdam and London.. Just to name a few. I haven't been on a proper holiday, in what seems a lifetime, but its really just been about 5 years this summer. Need to change that.

Grow Up
Hopefully by the end of 2014, I will hopefully have my own wee place to stay. I would love to not stay in the family home, as I do share it with my older brother and his little terror. I will obviously miss them but I feel its about time I learn to stand on my own 2 feet.

Learn Something New
I want to take up something and stick to it. I have already decided that I will start Ice Skating lessons. I have always wanted to learn, how to ice skate properly as I can barely go around an ice rink without holding on to the sides.

Make Memories With My Nephew
The little one is growing up too fast for me now and has already completed a term at school. Scary stuff, especially as I can still remember getting the call to say his mumma was in labour with him. Not sure to what I will do with him yet, but I'm sure I will be able to make memories with him.

Go To More Gigs And Maybe A Festival
Even though, in 2013 I got to see some of the most influential bands to me live, I still have the need to go to more gigs. In 2013, I got the privilege to see Fall Out Boy and 30 Seconds to Mars live.... YES LIVE. I was definitely living my teenage years again and utterly loved it. I have heard that Fall Out Boy are doing the UK rock festivals and DEFINITELY need to see them again. I would also love to see some other of my favourites play live, I also can not wait to hear some new tunes from my favourite UK bands, Yashin and You Me At Six.

I also want to blog a lot more and hopefully maybe start doing some videos (not certain on that yet though) You shall all hopefully be reading a lot more things from me soon though!!

December 2013 Update!!

Hey there people,

It's been a long time, since I have posted a blog. I have checked my last post was, waaaay back in August. Where has the time went?

Its already nearly Christmas and New year, eeeek....
This year has went super quick, I don't really have any explanation as to why I think that. But 2013 has went in a flash.
I always seem to come back to the blogosphere with a update post, then never seem to post much else.

But I do have a few free hours and I'm hopefully going to be able to get a few posts done that I have been meaning to write for a little while.

First the updates...

  • I went to my nephews first school Nativity play today, it was a tad emosh!! Still can not believe he is at school!! Where a my mini monster went?
  • I'm back looking for work, but I have decided I'm going back to college in August and would love to be either a teaching assistant or nursery nurse.
  • I'm excited for the future, I haven't been for a while as I got lost in my own thoughts and doubts. But as its nearly a new year, I thought its time to change how I view myself.
  • I have spent a lovely 8 months with my boyfriend and its still going well, my nephew adores him.
I'm going to leave this post here and hopefully I can get at least two of the posts I want done.

I hope you all a wonderful holiday....
