Primark make up Hit or Miss

When I was in Primark the other day I noticed that they had some cheap make up, that I thought I would try.
They do have more than I currently have, but I didn't want to try all of it as some of it did look cheap and tacky. I have got some lipsticks and lip stains. I also have the eyeliner as I got recommended it, by a twitter friend.

Swatches of the lipstains in red and pinky/purple

The lip stains were the most expensive at £1.50 each and I got myself two colours as I got one and it was really nice and pigmented and lasted a long time. But the pinky purple one while it is pigmented, it doesn't last very long. But then again I cant really complain much as it was only £1.50 and you get what you pay for, Id give them a 6/10.

Swatches of the lipsticks
The lipsticks are £1 each, as some of you all know you can get amazing lipsticks for £1 by MUA, so I was excited by the fact that Primark had brought some out in my local store. I picked up the 3 shades of pink that they had in store to have a little shot with them as I really do need to get some new lipsticks but just don't have a lot of money to buy them. They do come out really pigmented when you swatch them on your hand but on the lips it takes a good few coats of them to show up properly on your lips. They are a lovely creamy consistency but they do dry your lips really badly, for that id give them a 6/10.
Swatch of the eyeliner

The eyeliner cost £1 for two eyeliner pencils and a sharpener, great for budget purposes but not so amazing for the waterline where I normally put kohl liner. But they do work well for the smudged liner look. They are highly pigmented and creamy for the price they are it shocked me. Id maybe give them about an 5/10.

All in all i think the Primark beauty brand is a good idea for those maybe just starting with make up, or a teenager who is a bit clumsy or messy and loses things easily. Its purse friendly but I wouldn't go out my way to buy the things again.

Cya later guys.

FOTD & OOTD

So as its a lovely sunny day, for a change in Scotland, i decide to do both an OOFTD and a FOTD.
Its exactly a week before my birthday and the sun decides to shine, which can only mean its going to rain on my birthday.

So the final look I went for is a smudged kohl eye and a pink lips. I used a primer and  foundation by MUA, ELF concealer, soap and glory eyebrow pencil,  my eyeliner is from Topshop make up, mascara is from 17 wild curls mascara, lemon aid eye primer and cha cha tint (blush) by Benefit and my revlon lipbutter in lollipop.

My outfit is just a plain white vest top tucked into a mint green skirt with a pink belt accent. I was also had on a pair of black sandels and a navy military style jacket.
Think most of the outfit is from Primark and new look.

Jolie Box July

Its this time of the month again when all the beauty boxes land on the door step.

The Jolie Box arrived early this morning.
The box has some interesting things in it for me to have a go at and try and hopefully blog about them.
First thing i noticed it was back to the plain black box exterior and the normal black little bag inside. Of which i must be the only one who hasn't found a use for them yet.

The first product i noticed when i looked inside the bag, was the  NailGirls mini nail polishes, they are from the  Medal collection that's inspired by the Olympics. I got the shades, gold and bronze. There is also a silver shade in the collection.

The next product I got is the Etat Pur Biomimetic skincare B09- Express purifying mask. Its a French brand of skincare products and I got the mask. The other thing I could have got instead of the mask is the Pur Active A22-Salicylic Acid 300, which helps heal spots and blemished skin. I would have preferred that but I'm still happy I got the face mask, as I need to find one that helps my skin that can get very bad breakouts.

The next product i received is the Wen By Caz Dean sweet almond and mint cleansing conditioner. This is a multi purpose use conditioner, you can use it on your hair like a normal conditioner, use it as a deep conditioner and a leave in conditioner at the ends of your hair. It smells amazing and I cant wait to use it!!

The product I'm most disappointed in this month is the Jane Iradale Tantasia self tanner. Myself personally look stupid with most fake tans, as they go too dark, or they streak and go orange. My skin tone is very pale with a lot of freckles, I also have the ginger hair, so i have the Celtic look, so fake tan is a big no no for me, unless i have dyed my hair brown or blonde, both of which i haven't done for some time now.

This month after the late arrival of the June boxes, we have a special extra gift this month.
I got the essential care organic rose moisturiser, this smells absolutely lush!! I'm in love with the smell of this, to me it smells like Turkish delight. Its for all skin types, its also free from all the nasty stuff that can be found in moisturisers/skin care.
We also got a little jolie box toe separator thing in the box too, along with the july edition of the joliemag.

Anyways I'm off to enjoy some of the sunshine :)

Marion Loves

I'm going to start doing a mini series of the things I love. Its going to include websites, book, outfits, make up, nail art, bloggers, youtubers, pretty much anything and everything I can think of. I'm going to do a love of the day as well, as doing an in depth loves of certain things.
Today's love is.... TV Channel

As Ive been busy the past few weeks, I've really missed a lot of my favourite programmes on TV. That I'm going to have to catch up with online. But there is always one TV channel i always find myself turning on to when i have a spare 30 minutes. It also shows another one of my passions very well. I always find myself watching Food Network, as I love everything to do with cooking. I would love to have my own restaurant, eventually one day. But i think for now I would settle for my own baking business. I always talk about it with a friend.
Food Network is on Sky channel 262, it has every sort of cooking under the sun, from Mexican to British food recipes being shown. It also has diet food recipes, there is also a web page where you can get these recipes on food network (UK) and food network (rest of the world).
As I'm typing this up i have it on and watching 'Guys Big Bite' They have mainly all the new programmes on at night and repeats of things during the day, but i have never really seen the same thing twice.
So Food Network is my love of the day :)

Peace

Vichy Dermablend Corrective Cosmetics review

Hey guys,
Ive been meaning to do this post all weekend, but just not had the time and I felt a little under the weather.
So I've been using the Vichy Dermablend foundation stick since I got the starter kit in the June Glossy Box, which when i looked online it cost around £5 for the starter kit. Even though I don't have many blemishes, so I just used it to conceal dark circles.
So to get a proper scale of how well this product works, I asked my friend Lauren, who has some red pigmentation on her cheeks, if I could do the review based on the results she got when i done her make up.

Lauren, just before her flawless make over

As you can see from the picture on the left hand side. My lovely model, Lauren for this product has a lot of redness to her cheeks, and it doest matter what she does, she cant get rid of it fully, even the full cover foundations don't cover it fully without some green concealer to counteract the redness.

halfway through the transformation.
the final look.

First of all, I prepped (cleansed and moisturised) Laurens skin, then i started to massage the Vichy Dermablend into her skin, i used the colour the porcelain. It has a creamy consistency of a stick concealer. But it blends out amazingly well. I then used some powder to set it.
I then added some colour to Laurens face by adding a pinky blusher to the apples of her cheeks and some bronzer, to give her the healthy glow.

My overall opinion on this product is that i love it. It gets rid of a multitude of blemishes and it is strong enough to cover a tattoo. The stick itself is around £20 from Boots.com and various other places online. Its amazing at what it does and I think that because you can use it to camouflage everything, its well worth the money. It will give anyone who is shy because of their skin confidence. Feel free to follow my lovely model Lauren on Twitter.com/laurenm26

Dermalogica Clean Start Kit

This was one of the best things in my June glossy box, which Glossy box said that it was only the under 20 year old's getting them in the boxes, yet I'm 21, but I'm not going to complain as I love it. In the kit there is 3 miniatures two of which are 50ml and one is 15ml.

How the kit comes

Wash off

The first of the 3 is a foaming wash (50ml) that on the box says to use twice a day once in the morning and then again at night. It has a lovely citrus smell to the wash, its not like a normal face wash where you would wet your face first then use the product. This one you dampen your hands (clean hands) and then put the product on your hands to foam it up and then onto your face. It leaves the skin feeling nice and clean but also
rejuvenated.

All over clear

The next step in the kit is the All over clear purifying toner, its in a 50ml sample squirty bottle. All you do with this little bottle is shut your eyes and spray all over your face and neck. It helps to control shine and breakouts. Which I completely agree with as my skin is normal- Oliy combination, so anything that helps keep the shine at bay is amazing and it helps stop spots breakouts. You have to use this both am and pm.

The final step in this kit is the Welcome Matte spf15 moisturizer. As this has an SPF in it and its quite a light formula its perfect for the daytime. Its a lightweight formula that doesn't clog the pores to stop breakouts. I like this is as it makes my skin feel nice and soft.

All in all I absolutely LOVE this skincare set and I will definitely be buying the kit again. It makes my skin feel amazing and my make up goes on a dream after I've used it.
this is the link to the site to buy this kit. http://buy.dermalogica.co.uk/product.php?productid=16152

Over and out guys :)

Jolie Box Review

SO... the Jolie Box eventually came yesterday after about two weeks of disturbances with the delivery, but it came.
As it is the Jolie Box birthday box, I was expecting big things from this box...
As I've not tried all the products yet but on first glance, I'm not sure its anything spectacular. Reason being is that i have two similar products, but I am excited to try both of them when i run out of my existing moisturiser. Saying that the box it came in was a very gorgeous shade of orange.... My favourite colour.

                                                  The products and Jolie mag.

Lets get into what products i got in the box this month and i can give my opinion on them.

                                         Elysambre Lip gloss
This is a full sized product, by a French all natural make up company, Elysambre. Ive never heard of this brand before, not too keen on the colour of lip gloss I got. Its a cross between a pearlescent and sheer colour. This is a product that would find its way to the bottom of my make up drawer if i don't give it to someone who will get use out of it. As I'm more of a colour on the lips kinda gal. Its a nice texture though, not too sticky and it feels like it moisturised my lips when i put it on to test it.

Institut Esthederm Bronz repair body lotion

This Lotion is by another French brand, again that Ive never heard of. This is one Ive not tried as it not sunny in Edinburgh yet. But on  the information card, it says it helps battle the damage done by the sun and reduces the signs of ageing and gives the wearer a nice glow. This is slightly out of my comfort zone with beauty as I'm fair skinned i don't tan very well and when i do require a sun kissed glow, id rather fake it. So again this product is useless to me, but I'm sure lots of subscribers will get a lot of use out of it.

                                          L'Occitane Angelica Hydration Cream

This is one of the products I'm excited to try. Ive not heard a great deal of stuff about this brand, but it smells nice and its very creamy. On the information card, it says it reinforces the natural skin hydration an leaves the skin looking fresh and glowing. I cant wait to try this out in a few weeks time.

Yon-Ka Pamplemousse protective and Vitalizing Cream

This is the customised product, you got if you filled in the beauty profile, which i did. So i got the normal-oily skin one. This is the one I'm going to start using today, once Ive cleansed. Its quite a large sample size at 50ml, so enough to know if it does any good to my skin. On the card it says the cream is a lightweight face cream that protects the skin from external factors and it makes the complexion hydrated and bright.

Another little thing we received in the box was a Jolie Box nail file.
So all in all i think i would give the box about a 6 out of 10, as there is two similar products and two that I'm not going to get any use out of. But a very pretty box.

Mua gel eyeliner review

Yesterday saw the release of MUA's gel liner.
With its smooth and creamy texture and highly pigmented formula and only £3, MUA are on to a winning combination.
There are four colours to choose from fairground (a sparkly grey), underground (matte black), on the move (a matte brown) and tribe (a blue colour), there are plenty shades to have fun with and experiment with different looks.
I bought underground and fairground, to start with as I love my black eyeliner look, also I thought the grey one could be a nice change and I could create a lovely grey smokey eye.
For £3 these gel eyeliners are a winner and could take on the more expensive brand of eyeliners.
Fantastic, bloody brilliant!!
