Nail of the day. 23/4/14

Hey Guys,

Thought I would show you what I have on my nails today. I've went a bit mint/pastel green crazy over the past week or so.

So I have the Ps Love nail polish on in the mint green colour £1 from Primark, on top of that I have the matte effect top coat also £1 from Primark, I have done a pink glitter accent nail which is Birthday by Barry M for superdrugs 50th anniversary. Which is a beautiful pink based pink white and purple glitter. Then lastly I threw on some of NYC Disco Inferno top coat on my thumbs just to jazz up the matte effect on my nails.

I really like this look and one can not have enough glitter on my nails.

Bye Guys

Pink Velvetine Lime Crime Review

Hey guys,

Yes  I know I am very late to the bandwagon on these little beauties. But there is  just sometimes, I couldn't really splurge on these. I have only got the pink velvetine at present, but I have been eyeing up the black and the new dark red one from the new collection of them.

The Lowdown.
I got mine from amazon, I somehow ended up with a freebie, when I was buying some Wet N Wild lipsticks. Not that I am complaining. But these do usually cost around £14 from various places, like cutecosmetics or you can just type it into google and list of places will have them.

The Good.
Amazing pigmentation
Non Drying
Non Sticky
It dries almost immediately
lasts a long time
You can touch it up and it doesn't bump or crumble the rest of the lips.
Smells delicious
Cute Packaging

The Bad
I am yet to find a fault with this.
Although there are limited colours, I would love a dark pink a nude and a purple please.

Summary
I would repurchase this and as I say I have been eyeing up a few more colours. But I would love to see a better colour range of these. I have also found a couple of dupes for these but I am not sure they are up to the same standards as these are.

Models Own Speckled Eggs Nail Polish Review

Hey Guys,

Another little review on the old nail polish. I wasn't kidding when I said that I had replenished my whole collection. This is one of the currenly newish collections from Models Own. I'm sure it is called the speckled eggs collection. So my nails will look like the cadburys mini eggs, sort of. The colour range of these is obviously limited to 5 shades I think, they are all pastel colours with black specks in it. These cost £5 and are available from Boots, Superdrug and the Models own website

The good
Quick drying time
Great Easter look for nails.
great pastel colours
Good pigmentation and lots of specks of different sizes come out
They have cute names and do look similar to the eggs of the bird name that they have.

The Bad
Can chip easily without a top coat.
Not easily wearable any time of the year other than easter

Summary
This polish is a beauty, I do love it. Not sure if I would wear it at any other time of the year since it does look like mini eggs on my fingers. I do love the cute pastel colours that these come in. I like the formula and everything about the polish, so it makes me want to get more of the Models Own nail polish.

Whats your favourite nail polish by models own, recommend me some and I will check them out and wlll get back to every comment I get.

Nail of the day. Primark Fake nails

Hey Guys.

This is just a quick post showing you what is on my nails.

I bought, these spots and kitties fake nails from primark a while back. They went on like a dream, although a more consistent sizing would be better.
I used my own Nailene ultra quick glue to stick them on. I do love how these look on and would urge everyone to try the Primark fake nails.

George At Asda Gel Pro nail polish Review

Hey guys,

So a little about these polishes at first. I have these in a few different colours, so that may let you in to how I feel about these wonders. I have noticed Gel formula polishes are becoming some what big news on the high street and every brand is doing their own version. I being the cosmetics junkie that I am, have made it my business to get at least one from every brand and try them out. It is bliming expensive, but I am begining to have such a massive nail polish collection again. Yaay?

The Lowdown

These little beauties come in a range of shades, they are around £3 and can be bought in everyone's local supermarket. Asda and can be bought online on their website.

The Good
Cheap
Great opaqueness
Come in a variety of colours
Good consistancy

The Bad
The brush is horrible
chips easily ( could just be my jobs fault at this though!)

Summary
I love these, they are a great fairly cheap alternative and who needs a polish to last 14 days anyway. These last long enough for me, as I like switching my nail colour about so often. I don't tend to use a top coat, I don't know why, but I am too lazy to have to wait for a top coat to dry.

Would I repurchase.
Yes I would, I have 3 of these and plan on getting a nice blue and perhaps a green if they have them. They come in a great variety of colours, I have a dark maroon red colour and 2 peachy coral colours.

Glossybox April 2014: Review

Hey Guys,

This will be my April edition of reviewing the Glossybox. Thankfully this one arrived well before I assumed it would, it arrived before 9am on the 13th, good start.

The box itself had the theme sweet treats. I will go through what I got, then tell you what I think.

Emite Make up- Lip Brush- L312 (£17)
This looks like a lovely slanted lip brush, although i may use it for my eyebrows.

Monu spa Warming ginger massage and body oil ( full size 100ml £25)
This is a sample size, 30ml so that is roughly £7.50 worth as a sample. Good sample size and it smells gorgeous.

MeMeMe Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Tint- Cupids Kiss (£5.50 full size)
This is another full sized product, Iam already not keen on this. Not enough pigment for my liking and defo not a proper dupe for the benetints.

TRESemme Instant Befresh Cleansing Dry Shampoo (£4.99 for 200ml)
This is a travel sized can, so it is a not bad sample to get at this time of year. I am looking forward to trying this, as I recently cut my hair so this will help on those days where I have no time to wash my hair.

QV Skincare Gentle Wash (£6.06 for 250ml)
I have not heard of this brand before, so I am looking forward to trying this. Im not sure what sample size it is as it says on the bottle 15g.

This box is better than last months box, it is worth roughlyb £35 which is a massive step up from last months. I do look forward to testing the products apart from the MeMeMe product.

What are your boxes like this month? Let me know in the comments and I will be sure to get back to you all.

P.S Love Your Nails- Nail Polish Twist Pot Instant Removal Review

Hey Guys,

So instead of a nail polish review I thought I would do a remover review. This one is from Primark and cost £1. It is similar in style to the Bourjois pot and the Nails Inc, both of which are a lot more expensive than this Primark version.

The Lowdown.
They cost £1 from Primarks, up and down the UK and maybe the other Primarks. It is a black tub with presoaked sponge inside that you put your nail in and twist it around and it gets off the nail polish.

The Good.
Cheap
Easy to use
Good Value for money.
Gets off most nail polish

The Bad.
The sponge bits, has decided to come out of mine, small bit by small bit.
A bit too much nail polish remover in the pot as it spills out a bit.
Doesn't get glitter polish off

Summary.
I love this little pot as it removes nail polish easily and quickly. Although it doesn't remove glitter polish, but that is totally fine by me. I will eventually get the other ones to test out as well, but for £1 and if you are curious by the pots of nail varnish remover, then why not pick one of these up.

Whats your favourite nail polish remover? Which one should I try next? Leave a comment and I will get back to you.

Claire's Accessories Scatter Nail Polish Review

Hey Guys,

Another nail polish review for you all. I do promise I have other things to review, but this is just a wee quicky as a fellow blogger has let me borrow some of the other colours to show you of this particular brand of nail polish. When you think of Claire's Accessories you don't always think of nails and beauty things. But this polish is definitely a winner. You can buy them here

The Lowdown.
These polishes you can only get from either in store or on the Claire's Accessories, they are currently on sale for £1 and there are plenty more colours. Than the 4 I have here swatched for you. The polish has a mixture of white and black glitter, strands and large particles within the base colour. I have pink splatter, blue splatter, green splatter and orange splatter, they are all swatched on a milky coloured nail polish base, except the pinky, which has the pink on its own.
without flash.

The good.
Great variations with glitter chunks.
Good selection of colours available.
Cheap
Last a long time with a top coat

With flash.
with flash

The Bad
The base colour does not come out as pigmented as you would have thought.
It only being available in Claire's, it would be good if it was available in more stores.

Summary.
I love these polishes, so much so that I have just put an order in to Claire's Accessories, online store. Although I do wear a white nail polish underneath them, but it is totally worth it as they are gorgeous. I am in love with the orange one and the pink one. As they go nearly neon.

Have you tried these? What do you think of these? Is the splatter effect for nails a trend? Let me know in the comments.

Some places to find some high street make up for £1

Hey Guys,

As you should all be aware I love to get the most for my pounds. Lately I have been scouring the high street bargain shops, to check out what sort of beauty finds are out there.

As I work in discount Uk, I have seen the likes of Revlon nail polish, rimmel nail polish and O.P.I nail crackle effects go for around a £1. Bargain, right.

This has obviously spurred on this post. I have been to a few other bargain buys stores to see what I could find. Luckily I think my shop has the best bits in at the minute and since we get our delivery on a Wednesday, I can always have a wee look to see which brand of polish it is for the week. In the few weeks I've worked there I have seen Sally Hansen both the Instadry and the suger coat versions, Rimmel lasting finish Pro and Revlon scented and colourstay versions. There has also been a small selection of Wet n Wild products that have came in, mainly a mineral powder and some spoiled named nail polish.

I have also spotted a large selection of eyelashes, both high street branded and some random brands I have never heard of. I have picked up some Katy Perry ones by Eyelure at my work.

There is also a large selection of haircare, skincare and bodycare items available, from big named brands such as Naked (sold at boots), nivea, Garnier, clean and clear, the list is endless.

I would say next time, you go past one of the well known discount stores, go in and have a look at the beauty aisle, you may just be surprised at what you may find. I will try do a weekly or bi-weekly post on the new beauty bits I find in discount Uk ( the name might be changing.)

Marion

Ps guys will be doing a haul in the next few days of the bits I have picked up from my work.

P.S Love Primark Eyeshadow Palette

Hey guys

Sorry for lack of posts of late. I hoped I would be able to get some written and space them out, but things keep cropping up which is driving me insane, as I miss blogging.

Whilst I was through in Glasgow, I popped into Primark, on a whim that they would have the eyeshadow palettes in. Which luckily for me they did, but not the one I was hoping to get and blog about. So I am now the proud owner of the Day Palette. Ok not so much proud. But I will get to that in a mo. I was hoping to get the night palette.

The Lowdown.

This is a 8 eyeshadow palette, neutral colours, mostly sparkley and satin finish. It costs £2.50 and is packaged in a not so sleek black case.

The Good Points.
Good sized mirror in the palette.
Great Range of colours.
Cheap
Some have nice pigmentation

The Bad Points.
Bulky packaging, not good when trying to compact make up.
Some shadows have very little Pigmentation

Would I repurchase?
Yes I would probably repurchase these shadows from Primark, they do have a nice formua.

Other Comments.
These are a great starter into eyeshadows, although there are a lot better ones on the market and on the high street, but these are still good for maybe the tween aged girls, who just want to play around with make up and with there not being that much colour pay off they could be a good one for school make up, as they give off the same confidence boost as more expensive eyeshadows do. The darker colours have more pigmentation and do a great day look with an added slick of eyeliner and a colour pop lipstick.

Hope this helps everyone. What are your thoughts on these eyeshadows? Let me know in the comments.

Yashin Glasgow Stereo Gig

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't updated much recently. Getting the new job and working my butt off and trying to spend time with loved ones, takes up all of my time.

But obviously I have managed to squeeze in a wee gig, of my beloved band Yashin. I bought myself and a bestie some tickets for her birthday. This is maybe the third birthday in a row I have taken her to see them. But we both love them and we have even met them. I did blog about that too.

The band are from Glasgow, with the exception of the lead singer who is from Florida/ Isle of Man. The band consists of Harry Radford, Kevin Miles, Connor MacLeod, Andy McShane, Paul Travers and Dave Beaton. This is maybe the 3/4th time of seeing them play live. The support was a band I have already forgotten their name and Idivide, which I will have to look more into.

Every time I have seen Yashin play, you get to see the raw passion that these 5 guys have for music and how much love they get from the fans. This gig was no different. From playing old material to the few new songs, that they have released. They also have a new album getting released hopefully soon. This intimate gig was for the release of new songs Lady Carousel and D.E.A.D, both of which are incredible. I always enjoy hearing the latest offerings from these guys.

The gig was amazing and will always be in my memory bank. The guys know how to put on a epic gig. Lots of crowd surfing and movement. Also Harry getting into the crowd and singing SOS, whilst sitting down amongst the crowd. They also played a song right at the end, where it has gotten me through so many hard lonely nights a couple of years ago, so I did well up a bit. But being at the front the whole night, ensured I got some amazing pictures and some videos. I also got to sing into Kev's microphone, what is not to love about the gig.

Thank you Yashin, for being a band and always being so incredible to your fans, you connect with the fans in such a special way and I feel like I do have a  unique bond with you guys for writing some of the most played songs on my ipod, which I do always turn too when I need a wee pick me up. I can not wait for the new album and to see you play live again very soon.
